(1) Try listen to the teaching about the path of truth; it is not such a difficult teaching.
(2) You don't care to hear the teaching of truth? What are you living for?
(3) Think on the teaching while you are alive; when your life comes to an end, it's too late.
(4) When you have completely accepted Amida's Vow, there is nothing more to think on.
(5) In spite of the fact that you can go without admission, you are still doubting.
(6) Stop doubting once for all. Entrust yourself to Amida's design.
(7) My mind is like the surface of a pine tree; having no gloss, it is the target of Amida.
(8) Yesterday I heard, and today I again heard - the call telling me to come by all means.
(9) Even though I climb up and down the mountain with a heavy load on my back, it is no burden when I think of my indebtedness to Amida.
(10) When I look down at the temple from a high mountain, how wonderful! It is a treasure mountain.
(11) Since Amida is without doubt our Parent, sit right in front of him.
(12) What a great joy it is! Amida takes me into the Pure Land as I am.
(13) Even though I am in such rags, when I hear the teaching, I feel as if I were in a silk kimono.
(14) This Okaru, who was called an insane old woman, will soon become a shining bride in the Pure Land.
お軽(1801-1856)は瀬戸内海の六連島という小島で一生を過ごした女性でしたが、親鸞聖人の教えを深く聞き抜いて、信心を表明するたくさんの歌を残しています。次に挙げるのはその例です。
(1) きいてみなんせ まことの道を 無理な教えじゃ ないわいな
(2) まこと聞くのが おまへはいやか なにがのぞみで あるぞいな
(3) 思案めされや 命のうちに いのちをはれば あとしあん
(4) 領解すんだる その上からは ほかの思案はないわいな
(5) ただでゆかるる 身をもちながら おのが分別 いろいろに
(6) おのが分別 さっぱりやめて 弥陀の思案にまかしゃんせ
(7) わしがこころは 荒木の松よ つやのないのが お目当てよ
(8) きのふ聞くのも 今日また聞くも ぜにひこいとの 御よびごえ
(9) おも荷背負うて 山坂すれど ご恩おもへば 苦にならず
(10) 高い山から 御寺をみれば ご恩たふとや 宝山
(11) まこと真実 おやさまなれば なにの遠慮が あるかいな
(12) おもふてみなんせ 喜ぶまひか まるのはだかを 仕立てどり
(13) どんざるきるとも おいわれ聞けば きぬや小袖を きたここち
(14) きちがひばばと いわれしわしも やがて浄土の 花嫁に
